The base wasn't excavated deep enough, the fill wasn't compacted, there was no reinforcement, or the slab was poured too thin for the vehicles using it. Two or three winters later the cracks appear, the edges break away and water starts finding its way underneath.

We excavate to depth, remove unsuitable material, bring in and compact the right base, set the formwork to give the driveway proper fall away from the house, lay reinforcement, and pour to a thickness that suits what's driving on it. It's not glamorous work and you'll never see it once the concrete is down — but it's the difference between a driveway that lasts decades and one that fails in a few years.
